Tell him to GROW UP. A desktop is ALWAYS better and here's why. - for the same money, you get MUCH MORE out of a desktop. A typical $700 desktop is much better than a $1200 laptop in SPEED, Versatility, Expandability, Reliability, View ability, Upgrade ability. Desktops simply do not get stolen, laptops are the most stolen item in America. drug users steal them to get their next FIX Desktops do not fall and break, laptops fall from just 8 inches and break. Laptop batteries rarely last more than 2 years, so if the laptop is USED, the $100 batteries are probably already DEAD. If you buy a used laptop, you are probably supporting some drug addict. DON'T. You really do not want a laptop though, they can easily be stolen, can not be upgraded very easily, plus if it dies, it's not worth fixing and you'd be forced to buy a new one. There's nothing wrong with desktops, but then again, if you want to get it, go for it. You will realize your mistake later when something happens to it
